Orbitron is a small engineering company. We help businesses and organisations get their networks and security in order. We design and test electronics and write firmware, and when a job calls for it, we write software tools too. You always deal directly with the person doing the work.
Staff have built their own tools to make their work easier and keep the business moving. It all happened as they went along, with no clear plan, and it's starting to show.
It runs reliably for days on end. Then, out of the blue, it freezes or reboots, and nobody can work out why.
A converter, a controller or a sensor that has to run for years on one battery. What you need is someone to take the prototype from a rat's nest of wires on the bench to a tested, documented product: design the board, write the firmware and run the pre-compliance tests.
What we offer
Software keeps the world running. Building and testing hardware takes good software. And security comes first.
We design, review and run networks, firewalls and Unix servers. We can write the technical specification for a tender, or take over the day-to-day running where it's needed. We also write software tools.
Security starts with knowing what's on your network. So we begin by finding out what's where and how the traffic flows, and then recommend the measures that actually make sense for you.
From schematic to working prototype. We design circuit boards, write firmware and keep testing until the device is reliable. We have our own lab, with proper test and measurement kit.
About us
He has worked with networks and Unix systems day in, day out since 1995, and as an independent consultant since 2005. In 2011 he co-founded Orbitron. Along the way he has worked on networks for a bank, a stock exchange, a fuel distributor, a radio station, laboratories, software houses, mobile operators and factories.
In recent years he has gone back to an old love, electronics. He designs boards and gets them working, writes firmware and tests prototypes in the company lab. That's why we can help track down tricky faults and test a device properly from end to end.
We're a small company and only take on work we know we can do well. If something's beyond us, we'll say so from the start.

How we work

We go through the network, the documentation or the brief, then tell you what we'd do, how long it would take and roughly what it would cost. If we don't think it's worth doing, we'll tell you that too.
You get the result along with documentation that someone other than us can follow. If you'd like, we'll carry on looking after it.
